Mission Space Week - Space Science Badge Kits & Live Virtual Events

WELCOME EXPLORERS!

Welcome to the first-ever Space Science Badge kits offered by the GSAC of GSKSMO! We hope that these activities, as well as the fun live events being presented, give girls, troops and families a chance to connect with each other and learn new, exciting facts about space and our amazing girl members of the Girl Scout Astronomy Club. This activity kit is fun to complete on your own, with your family or with your troop.

WHAT’S INSIDE THE BADGE KITS

Inside this Activity Kit you will find all the materials you need to complete several exciting projects about the planets, solar systems, and MORE! This booklet contains an introduction and step-by-step instructions for each activity, as well as information about the live virtual events. We will also be highlighting one of NASA’s latest missions - The Artemis Program. During the Artemis Program, NASA will land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before.

• Mission Information Booklet with general facts about Space and NASA’s Latest Mission - Artemis
• Space Science Badge for Daisy, Brownie or Junior.
• NASA or Space Poster
• Star Notes notebook with Space Pen, Galaxy pencil and space eraser
• Everything you need for your kit's stellar activities!
• Additional supplies needed that are not included:
  • Scissors, glue, toilet paper or paper towel roll and glue stick.

LIVE VIRTUAL EVENTS - Join us for these Mission SPACE Week Badge Kit Zoom Events.

• Badge Kit Opening Parties by age level - (See schedule below)
• GSAC LIVE Friday, August 6th, 2021 - 9:30pm - 10:00pm.

Mission SPACE Week Schedule – Each live event is geared towards specific age group kit, leading up to Friday night’s GSAC LIVE! These nights will be virtual and LIVE. We have unboxing events for different girl scout age levels. Hang out with our Astronomy Club Girl Scouts while exploring the items in your kit! Zoom Links will be sent out 1 week prior to the Mission Space Week!

Aug. 6th 2021  (Rain Date - August 7th) 9:30pm - 10:00pm - GSAC LIVE - Explore Space with our eVscope!

This event will end our week of space exploration and be led by our Astronomy Club Girl Scouts and a FREE webinar for all Girl Scouts and families in our council!

*Please note that these kits will be mailed to the person purchasing the kit. If you are purchasing for your troop or multiple girls, you will need to coordinate delivery of the kits to the individual girls. Kits will arrive at least one week prior to Mission Space Week.
